Trying to make the switch from chemical-ridden products to more natural alternatives? From natural deodorant to organic lip balms here are four great vegan products I personally use and recommend.
Primal Pit Paste in Lavender: I had wanted an all-natural deodorant for a while before I found this one. I love it because you get the same benefits of regular deodorant but you’re not exposing yourself to unnecessary chemicals. The main ingredients are shea butter, arrowroot powder, baking soda, and coconut oil. I’ve been using it since December, keeping my regular stick deodorant available, but after the first use I haven’t looked back! The Primal Pit Paste comes in different scents (and strengths) like Orange Creamsicle, Thyme and Lemongrass, Coconut Lime, Jacked up Jasmine and more. They all sound so nice I want to try each one! The Lavender smells amazing, very calming and soothing. Not to mention the packaging is great because you can clean and re-purpose the glass jar when you finish it. I’m excited to continue purchasing these and will again once necessary.
Hempz Original Herbal Body Moisturizer: A few Christmas' ago my sister got a bottle of the Hempz Vanilla Plum Body Moisturizer. I really liked the smell of it and how well it worked so eventually I bought the Original version. The main reason I got this was I wanted to use something alongside an oil as a moisturizer for those extra-dry days. I purchased the Original version instead of the Vanilla Plum to see which one I liked better. At the end of the day both smells are very pleasant and the moisturizing factors are also equally great. For a while I was using it regularly with great results. Lately I've been using it along with my DIY Cocoa Butter Body Butter when my hands are on the dryer side and need a top up of moisture and still get great results. Overall I really like this product and would buy another bottle again (or maybe try another scent like the coconut watermelon one, it just sounds so summery)!
Uncle Harry's Natural Tooth Powder: This stuff, I kid you not, Adam and I have been using it for years now. I found this tooth powder back in 2013 when I was trying to find a more natural toothpaste. I wasn’t set on finding tooth powder or toothpaste in particular so I was open to anything but found this and I loved the 100% natural ingredients. It’s made of calcium carbonate, mustard seed powder, sea salt, peppermint, eucalyptus, clove, wintergreen, and oregano essential oils - all of which are amazing for the health of your teeth and gums. If you haven't used tooth powder before, don’t worry, there isn’t a learning curb. We buy the 8 oz bottle and just pour it over our (wet) toothbrushes and brush as usual. The most amazing thing about it is you can eat food directly after brushing your teeth without that horrible “I just brushed my teeth and now everything tastes awful” experience. Since we found it it's completely replaced our regular toothpaste. 10/10 I highly recommend.
S.W. Basics 4 Vegan Lip Balms: My sister got these for me for my first birthday being vegan. Over the years I’ve become a chapstick/lip balm person, I always had one in my pocket or purse (still do), so I was really excited to get these all natural 3-5 ingredient lip balms! The flavors include citrus, cinnamon, peppermint, and my all time favorite cocoa. Each one is made from organic, fair trade cocoa butter, organic coconut oil, candelilla wax, and essential oils. It’s worth mentioning that normally when I would use lip balm afterwards I’d need to apply more, all day long. With these however, just like the Hempz lotion, you only need to apply it when you actually need the extra moisture and you’re not left endless applying chapstick. I will definitely get these again when they run out but vegan buyer beware: some of the tins/lip balms are marked with beeswax and some are marked with candelilla wax. If you get them on Amazon it's the vegan ones but if you buy them somewhere else online, like their website, it's the beeswax ones. Just read the ingredients before purchasing.
