For the last week or so I’ve been taking mental notes of different things I’d like to do this fall--baking, cooking, crafting, activities--like a fall bucket list. I thought I’d share it here with you guys and see if you had any fun fall plans too!
Like I said in last Friday’s Color With Me post, I’m so excited for fall! I love the changing of seasons! Growing up we didn’t get seasonal changes where we lived. We often had gloomy skies and in the winter we’d get rain--a lot of it! In the summer we could look forward to about a week or two of nice weather then it would be back to jeans and layers. Now living in Northern California we get all the seasons--even snow! So I’m hoping to make the most of this season by doing some, if not all, of these things on my fall bucket list:
Carving Pumpkins: I love carving pumpkins! It’s always been such a fun activity, the seeds, the goop, the pumpkin smell, along with the bright orange color--it’s amazing! If you love pumpkin seeds it’s even better; I love carving pumpkins with a fresh batch of pumpkin seeds toasting in the oven. It’s like a Halloween version of chestnuts roasting on an open fire!
Making Soup: I’m looking forward to cozy afternoons spent chopping up vegetables and knowing that that night, and the following days, we’ll be filling our bodies with pure goodness! I have a vegetable soup/stew that I’ll be trying to perfect, and I’d also like to find a few recipes on Pinterest to try out!
Wearing Sweaters: Okay, so this is more of an “it’s just gonna happen anyways” thing but I’m still excited about it! I'm gonna wear all the sweaters! They’re comfortable, cozy, cute, and it’s like walking around in a mini knitted blanket.
Knitting: Speaking of knitted blankets, my goal is to finish up the one I’m currently working on before fall ends so that we can use it in the winter! If I’m honest, I thought it would be faster to knit but because I’m making a large-ish throw blanket, and chose baby-blanket-yarn, I think I can expect to spend quite a few more nights knitting while listening to music, talking with Adam, or watching tv. I have about 170-175 stitches per row and based on how many rows as I’ve done so far I’ve knitted well over 180,000 stitches!
Photographing the Season: It would be awesome to do another Exploring Nature but fall edition. The last Exploring Nature was in the early-mid springtime. Since things are changing, and will continue to do so, why not capture it? Plus I’m a sucker for the colorful autumn leaves!
Baking Goodies: I plan on doing more than my fair share of baking for the next few weeks--until January really! I’m hoping to find a new vegan pumpkin bread recipe, as well as make some mini sugar cookies in the shape of fall leaves and Halloween things! There should be a few fun and festive food blog posts coming this fall/winter season as well!
Cooking With Squash: I haven’t cooked squash, aside from yellow squash, before. I’d like to spend some time on Pinterest and find a few recipes to try it with. Something like a soup or simply baking it with the right seasonings would be amazing to try!
What fun things are you guys planning to do this fall? Are there any traditions you look forward to doing every year? Maybe something you’ll be trying for the first time this year? I’d love to hear! I’ll see you guys on Friday with a spooky fun tutorial! Have a great weekend everyone!!! Have a great weekend everyone!!
