Hey everyone!! Boy long time no see! I wanted to blow the dust off this space and say hello! I’ve been focused on other projects lately so I haven’t really been around and a “Happy Thoughts” post felt like the best place to start. Happy Thoughts are simply things I’ve been thinking about, doing, or loving lately that bring a little happiness, in no particular order:
Over the last few weeks, I’ve really gotten into having a soothing late-night cup of tea. It feels like stepping into a warm bath—I love it! My current favorite brews of choice are Green Tea, Turmeric + Ginger Tea, and Sleepytime Tea.
Favorite Fragrant Blends
Speaking of rituals, I’ve gotten back into burning essential oils. We just bought a 10-pack of 1oz essential oils; we already had some of the oils but they’re in 4oz bottles and they didn’t have a dropper. Instead of buying droppers or empty bottles to transfer them to, we bought the same brand’s 1oz size and we’ll transfer the larger quantity to the smaller bottles when they’re empty. Yay! No more pouring out way too much orange essential oil! Plus the 10-pack included 4 essential oils we didn’t have yet so we were able to expand our collection. I’ve been burning 2 drops of lavender, jasmine, and peppermint for a floral fresh aroma. The back of the eucalyptus bottle suggests burning 3 drops of eucalyptus oil, with 2 drops of peppermint and tangerine oil for mental focus which we’ve also been loving. Now I want to expand our collection even more! Bring on the autumn smells!
Have you heard about bullet journaling? It’s essentially journaling, note-taking, and list-making in a notebook with dots arranged in a grid pattern. The dots give you an easy way to shape each page into any kind of layout you need. They’re wonderful for adding a little creativity and organization to your life while letting you highlight anything important. I first heard about it over a year ago but lately, I’ve been putting the practices of bullet journaling into my regular notebooks and list-making situations. It’s a fun way to organize one’s notes and tasks. I’m tempted to get a proper bullet journal but for now, I’m content making fancy borders and check mark boxes in a standard notebook. Here's a link to some examples I've pinned.
Ahhhhh, September. I love September, not only for the changing of the season but also for the fact that it’s a birthday month! My brother Jordan, husband Adam, and I all have birthdays this month! Which also means lots of cake. So yay for cake! They’ve already had their birthdays but mine is still coming up. Last year I had a ding-dong cake which was essentially a two layer chocolate cake with a ding-dong cream frosting and the whole thing was covered in chocolate. I loved it so much I plan on making it a tradition!
Simple Gold Necklaces
I’ve been looking around on Etsy for a simple gold necklace to add a little polish to my wardrobe and look more put together. Personally, I love the look of minimalistic gold necklaces like circle/karma necklaces or gemstone necklaces.
The Life-changing Magic of Tidying Up
I don’t know about you guys but I loved this book, I originally listened to the audiobook about 2 years ago and since then have been able to keep my possessions and purchases in check. I can honestly say I still use the KonMari method as needed, and have done so many times since the first major tidy up. Nowadays it just means I’ll take all of one category (or sub-category, ie all shirts) and donate/repurpose anything that doesn't “spark joy”. I'm bringing it up now because I listened to the audiobook again last month and it felt nice to refresh some of the principals. I highly recommend it if you haven’t read it before!
What have been your Happy Thoughts lately? Read any good books or start any rituals? Maybe you’ve found a new favorite recipe? I’d love to hear! I want to frequent this space more often again but for now Adam and I are still working on other projects so let’s play it by ear. I hope you guys have a great weekend!
